Terms of use

Reading these pages means accepting what follows. This publication is editorially independent, every game title discussed here is invented for illustration, and nothing on the site is a warranty of any kind.

These terms govern your use of this website. They are written in plain language because a document nobody can read protects nobody.

The games named here

Every title on this site is fictional, created to demonstrate how a co-operative review method works in practice. Any resemblance to an actual product, studio or publisher is unintended. The hour counts, survival figures, skill-gap grades and incident tallies are constructed for the same purpose and must not be cited as findings about any real game.

Editorial independence

Nothing here is sponsored, paid or placed. No studio, publisher or storefront has any influence over which games appear, what order they appear in, or what score they receive. No review copies are accepted, and every game is bought at retail with the publication's own money — which for co-operative titles means two or three copies each time.

What the scores describe

The together score describes a specific group of people playing a specific version of a game for a stated number of hours. The solo score describes one of those people playing the same version alone. Neither number is a claim about how the game will behave for you.

Partnership survival is a record of what happened between two particular people. It is not a prediction about your own friendships, your household or your schedule, and a game that lost us at hour three may keep you happily occupied for a month.

The skill gap grade is not a specification

Grades from A to F are measured against one pair of players with one particular difference in ability, described on the method page. A game graded D for us may be entirely comfortable for two players whose strengths differ in another direction. Treat the grade as a description of an experiment rather than a property of the software.

No warranty

Everything here is provided as it stands. No promise is made that it is complete, current or free of error, and the session logs are explicitly described as provisional, with one of them stating the conditions under which its central finding would be withdrawn. Nothing on this site is professional advice of any kind.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, this publication accepts no liability for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published here — including purchases you regret, time spent on a game you did not enjoy, or any disagreement arising between you and somebody you played with.

Use of the material

You may read these pages, quote briefly from them with attribution to the publication, and share links to them. You may not republish substantial portions, present this material as your own work, or reuse the photographs and illustrations, which were produced for this publication and are not offered for reuse.

No accounts, no submissions

This site has no registration, no comment facility and no submission mechanism. Nothing here invites you to send material, and unsolicited material will be neither published nor acknowledged.

Changes

These terms may be revised. The version published at the moment you read a page is the version that governs that reading.

Severability

If any provision above is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply in full.
